This is From the Post Put up By Afro Atheist
Thank you for the reply. However, I
need to graciously state that you have misunderstood the meaning of
whataboutism. As a result, you are neither able to recognise it nor know how to
properly respond to it. But, I’ll leave that aside for now.
Now, the message: “Give your life
to Christ" or similar scriptural derivatives sound generic for a purpose.
It is the unchanging, immutable word of God that has been preached since Acts Chapter
2. It is has not been amended or altered. There might be new ways of delivering
it but it is essentially the same.
“Jesus loves you. He died and shed
his blood for you. Accept him as Saviour, make him Lord of your life and spend
eternity in His kingdom.”
That is the gospel, pure and
undiluted!
In furtherance, I am not assuming
that Miss Afro is going through a crisis of faith. At this point, I can boldly
assert that anyone who lives a life outside of Christ is definitely going
through an internal crisis.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says:
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
This means that true liberty from
fear, sin, confusion, internal chaos and spiritual bondage is only found in the
presence of God. Without Him, there is a mental invasion of countless
existential conundrums. As such, for the average atheist, there is a restless
compulsion to continually insist that God is not real, that heaven and hell do
not exist, that miracles are fiction, that the Bible is a myth, that Jesus
Christ and the Holy Spirit are illusions.
These incessant repetitions and the
need to keep battling this God that supposedly does not exist betray the
internal crisis I mentioned. Whether one acknowledges it or not, the absence of
Christ always leads to a void, a tempest that only He can calm.
Perhaps you might have heard about Ayaan
Hirsi Ali. She was a notable and celebrated atheist until her recent
conversion. This is part of what she said in her essay: “Why I am now a
Christian." Hopefully, it will fine tune the argument I have been making.
Notice the capitalizations:
“Ayaan described undergoing a
period of intense personal CRISIS, marked by FEAR, ANXIETY and DEPRESSION.
Despite seeking help from therapists and various coping mechanisms, she
continued to feel a deep SPIRITUAL VOID. A therapist suggested she was "SPIRITUALLY
BANKRUPT," prompting her to reconsider her stance on faith. Through this
exploration, she realized that the qualities she sought in a higher power were
embodied in the Christian understanding of God, particularly as represented by JESUS
CHRIST.”
There is no other way!
